I wear underwear, lol. You can always wear tights underneath stuff to prevent rink rash. It tends to get warm in there so don't wear anything too warm. You want to be comfortable so think of that first.

I always wear tights of some kind & shorts.  Fishnets or real thin ones are the most comfortable b/c they save you from rink rash but aren't too hot.  Don't spend a lot of dough, though, b/c the Velcro on your knee pads will get them all snagged up the 1st time you wear them.  I don't like skorts for the most part b/c they are too thick for me & I get too hot & sweaty & uncomfortable.  Target seems to have a pretty good selection of footless tights, which seemed pointless to me until I started skating... they're perfect for this.  It has been really cold in the Colosseum over the winter, but after warm-ups, a lot of us start shedding layers!

As far as what to avoid... I would stay away from anything w/ buttons, snaps, or flappy pockets on your hip- like the widest part that you'll fall on the most.  Padding might sound like a good idea, but it will only take one time of landing square on some dumb buckle... and the resulting buckle-shaped bruise... before you say to heck w/ the cutsey stuff.   Wink  You don't want anything you'll be having to adjust while you skate, so get stuff that fits well.

A lot of us have clippy things that we use to tie back the sleeves of our shirts so they are more like a tank top.  I saw some by the registers at Dicks last weekend but I don't remember how much they were going for.  You'll want to get a white & a black t-shirt or tank or whatever so that when you start scrimmaging w/ us you can change depending on which "team" you'll be on for that night of practice.

I also recommend getting some socks & cutting off the feet, & wearing them on your arms under your pads... believe me, you'll feel a lot better, & then you can have a clean(ish) layer between your skin & what will soon be STINKY pads!   Cheesy

Excellent! That helps a lot, thanks. Weee, shopping! And an excuse to buy footless tights again!   Grin

a lot of the time I wear the yoga pants that go just below the knee....then pull them up just over my knee pad.  Then I wear long socks like soccer/softball socks.

i have these awesome work out capri's i got clearance at kohls that are this really thin, smooth material that is nice for skating because it doesnt rub at all when you do crossover's which makes it extremely comfortable

one thing to keep in mind, wear whatever you might want to wear skating in public to practice BEFORE you ever wear it in public, you want to make sure its very comfortable and doesnt ride up funny or else you'll be distracted by it or self concious
