Hey ladies I was checking our myspace...and guess what i got?  An invitation to club Eclipse for Toledo Girls Gone Wild night....I know what your thinking, Oh no not straight to DVD drunken roller girls! BUUUUT, Think about it, a ton of men looking for some decent looking women (why not introduce them to THE GCR and roller derby) plus there are bound to be a poo ton of women ages 18-40 who are in decent shape. (why not recruit them to playu some derby). We need to be seen out and about spreading the derby gospel and getting a strong cult following if we hope to sell out in October. So who wants to dress semi-derby for bowling and THEN head down to Club Eclipse on superior? ? Two Day Make-up barbie? Crabbasixerofschlitz? Kiddo? Beefy? Perhaps the girl who gavce it up to Abe? Pamazon, I know you love to create a commotion! Any takers? |

It DOES sound pretty fun, but I personally have two problems:
1 - I'll be in NY
2 - I was just protesting GGW at Ziggy Zoombas because they exploit drunk women for their own profit. If someone is drunk, they cannot legally give consent. It's true for rape and all contracts.
LOL but even if i was sober I'd probably show my tits in derby regalia for the cameras.

I don't think GGW presents a good role model for young girls and I would not want the league to participate in something like that.

I agree with Sally's comments as well. But I do agree with Thora that an event like that would be a great place to do some recruiting. With cameras present I don't know that wearing the GCR logo would be appropriate but I don't see any reason that we can't hand business cards out to some of the ladies there.

I am not saying we participate!!!! In fact I would say that would violate the Douchebaggery clause we have in place. I am saying show up (DRESSED), hand out vcards (KEEP OUR COTHES ON), and no one get stupid. Just thought it's a BIG venue, with lots of potential skaters and fans.

The Detroit Derby Girls attended lots of "meet & greet" events in bars, especially when they were just forming. There shouldn't be any problems with it, just like some folks say, be cool.
BTW, can someone confirm the location of the bowling party for me? Remember, I'm coming from a distance and don't know every place around Toledo/Rossford!

Club eclipse sucks... girls gone wild is trashy as all get out, that's coming from 2day makeup / sleepover barbie! It's just asking for trouble, there's plenty more opportunity for recruitment at festivals and what not this summer. I vote no.

I would not recommend participation ~ however if some of us can go to recruit then I don't see any problems with going to this or any other large gathering where there is likely to be a large group of women (who fit the Derby profile). As always when out in public in GCR apparel, watch that the high kicks and drunken debauchery don't get too out of hand. (haha! watch the high kicks...thats funny~) Unfortunately, I will not be able to go to the Epic because I have my kiddies...maybe that should say 'Fortunatly' ?  I am SOOO looking forward to tonight! They are excited to have us, too! I told them to chill another keg...lol! and I bowled a 120 last night...so look out - cuz I'm on a roll! lol!  Crabbalabadingdong |

I was talking w/someone who went to the GGW at Ziggys in BG and it not women 18-40 its more like 18-24 college age drunks. I agree that we should go to different venues & events to promote our selves but I DO NOT think the GGW is a good idea at all. Guys there arent there to join the derby staff they are there to see half naked drunk girls doing god knows what. And the girls there well frankly their there to be the drunk girls doing god knows what, not there to join derby. Im all about having fun but this is NOT a good idea. We cant stop anyone from going on their own but I strongly suggest NOT going there to promote us.
